Explore the great outdoors…PLAY

If you thought playing hula hoops, jumping ropes, or just playing catch with a ball were activities for kids, you could no be more wrong. Outdoor playing activities have many advantages for the entire family, some of them being,
1.Fun to do
2.Entire family is involved
3.Strengthens your body and muscles

4.Helps bond with the kids and know their like and dislikes
5.Keeps you fit
6.If you are out playing games, you are not inside with your laptop or watching junk on TV and in turn growing fatter on the couch.
7.You are not gorging on junk food.
8.You save on the electricity bill with the TV, laptop, and game station switched off for a change.

Therefore, you see there are more advantages than disadvantages with outdoor games. When the whole family is involved the kids too become more attached with their parents and it is a big boost to their emotional well being. If you are now convinced that you too will venture out to play, here are some outdoor fun activities that you can do,

Play ball
– there are many ball games that you can play with kids of all ages. And if you do not have any kids, I am sure even adults will not find anything wrong with playing a little soccer. You can play catch with a small ball, help your kids learn some neat baseball tricks or anything you can think of with a ball. There is one called a donkey ball where the on with the ball tries to hit it on the back of the other players who try to evade it. If someone gets hit, it is his turn then to hit the back of the other players with the ball.

Rope trick – Do a skipping competition or better still have a rope race. In the race, form two teams and set the boundaries of the race. At the 'Go' signal, the first two players race to the goal and back, jumping rope. The next player goes, and so on, until the winning team is declared.

Hop Scotch – it is really really fun to play this game and go back to your childhood fun memories with the kids. You could divide in teams and the winner gets the treat.

Hula-hoop – Get the music on and see how long a single person can hula-hoop with the music. The longer one juggles the hoop the better.

Treasure hunt
– This is really an exciting game to play outdoors although prior preparation is needed. Give players or teams the printed list of nature items to find. Some suggestions are rock, leaf, bug, pinecone, twig, something red, yellow, orange, or other color. The first player or team to report back with all of their items wins the prize.

If these suggestions are not enough, you can get invest in a trampoline or a set of badminton rackets, or tennis rackets or a Frisbee or a soccer ball or netball or anything that helps you just pack up and leave home to the great outdoors. Ask friends to accompany and there you have a great playing picnic with the entire lovely crowd. Try it once and you would want to do the trip every weekend.
