BORE WATER / RECYCLED WATER
March 1st 2007 01:06
Don't you think it's great that individuals and businesses are beginning to use water from rainwater tanks, grey water or even sinking a bore to take the water from underground?
I think it's wonderful that we are beginning to finally understand that although the world is made up of mostly water, this water is not useable for our needs and the useable water is becoming less and less available, in some areas causing intense drought conditions or even major flooding.
An issue or concern that people may not have though of is the wastage of water.
Just because you have bore water or you are recycling water, doesn't give your the right to waste it, to continue using it the way you have been, to take no opinion or responsibility concerning it's value.
We go for a walk in our neighbourhood and find beautifully maintained gardens, Yards of lush green lawns, we think about how this came about, then we see a sign on their fence saying "using bore water", oh, well then, that's ok.
It's not ok at all! Just because you have access to bore water, grey water systems, rainwater tanks, dams or other forms of water doesn't mean you cans till waste it.
Why do we have such large areas of lawn at our homes that we insist it must remain that way? Grass is one of the biggest water users; it will take the water from the ground around it, often depriving water and nutrients from the plants around it.
It would be of everyone’s best interest to stop wasting water, regardless of how it is sourced.

Although Bore Water is considered to be 'untreated' or even 'unsafe', this isn't necessarily true.
Bore Water is water that lies under the top layers of the Earth. A way of picturing it is, think of dams, rivers or tables of water that we have sitting on top of the earth, what we can all see. Well under the first few layers of the Earth lays similar dams, rivers and tables. Some areas have access to a large mass of water, others can drill or dig for miles and find nothing. The water that gets there os free of chemicals, acids and many other poisons or additives that we find in our water above ground. The water is filtered through the many layers of the Earth. In a simple way, if you picture a fish tank with a filter. The water that goes into the filter is dirty, when it comes out it’s cleaned. A similar system occurs with bore water and water that lies underground. It’s filtered to the point of many impurities being removed. In some instances, vital minerals can even be returned to the water.
This system, in reality is really quite simple, but is not used enough with the water we have available above the earth. Grey Water and even Black Water can be filtered through a basic system of movement, and natural filters. Even septic systems can be created and there will be no nasty smell, no nasty chemicals, no land or water destroyed. All solids and impurities are absorbed back into the land thus fertilising the earth and returning vital components that have been taken out of it.
Bore Water in many areas is not permitted for human consumption (drinking water) because of what it may contain. The reality is, it’s probably more pure than what we are forced to consume.
Because Bore Water is being used more and more, we need to be careful that we aren’t going to strip to earth of this as well. We have already created so much destruction to the Environment above ground, let’s not do it below ground as well.

THE ENVIRONMENTAL MESSAGE MUST GET THROUGH
